July 2007 Web414 Meeting — Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 — 7pm

Directions to the room are as follows.

1. Walk in the doors to Rosenberg Hall
2. Take the stairs up to the second floor
3. Enter first door on your right (across from the vending machines)
4. Sit in comfy conference room chair

(Oh yeah, parking downtown in the Summer can be a nightmare, so come early, and plan on walking a few blocks.)

Larry Clarkin will be demonstrating Silverlight, which is a platform for creating Cross Browser / Cross Platform Rich Internet Applications with Microsoft's .NET technologies.

This meeting will also serve as a planning meeting for BarCampMilwaukee2, and we'll also touch on DrupalCamp and DemoCircuit.

Jeff Fitzsimmons of Area 444 will talk about ComicWonder, a web site which serves as a competitive arena for joke-tellers. (See article in the Business Journal: Shooting for a million laughs.)

This will also serve as a BarCampMilwaukee2 planning meeting, and afterwards, we will go to Bucketworks and tour the facility.

Web414 would like to sponsor BarCampMilwaukee2, for which we need to raise $200. If you will be donating, please bring cash with you to the meeting or speak to either Pete or Ashe to make other arrangements.

Tech Cafe / BarCampMilwaukee2 Planning Meeting — Saturday, August 18th, 2007 — 9am

A Tech Cafe is an informal geek gathering focused around a single tech topic. The Tech Cafe topic for Aug 18 is BarCampMilwaukee2 planning. Plus we'll have some general tech talk, including maybe some discussion of future Tech Cafes and DemoCircuit.

Note that we will be meeting at MSOE from 8PM to 10PM for the regular meeting, but will also be meeting at 6pm at Espresso Christoph pre-dinner and at 7pm at Mykonos for dinner.

For September we'd like to do something a little different. With all the new members, we thought it would be good to go around the room and have everyone show something they've recently worked on, or are currently working on. It could be your own site, work you are doing for someone else, or maybe just something you find inspiring.

There is also a good chance we will talk about the planning for BarCampMilwaukee2.

A Tech Cafe is an informal geek gathering focused around a single tech topic. The Tech Cafe topic for Sep 29, 2007 is Adobe AIR. Ryan Stewart from Adobe will be in Chicago and if all goes well will make a brief stop at the Tech Cafe to show off what Adobe AIR can do.

(Note: A number of people will also be making a trip down to Chicago later for Adobe OnAIR. [more info])
